Transportation

Transportation is the system or means of transporting people or goods. Transportation has been a significant factor of life since the dawn of human civilization. As time has moved forward, humans have found ways to circumvent the problem posed by large distances. Innovations in sea, land, and air transportation have allowed us to cover vast areas around the globe that would otherwise be impossible without the assistance from technology. As technology advanced, humans also developed ways to travel outside Earth’s atmosphere and into space. In the modern era, transportation technology is essential to keeping the world economy and society connected. In this section of the textbook we will discuss the evolution of transportation technology, the significant role of transportation in the 21st century, and the future of transportation technology.
